Midplan was initiated in 1982 when the practice was established in what is now the Gauteng Province. The practice continued growing into its current stature and remained abreast of technological developments and the evolution of urban planning in South Africa, notably on the socio-political front.
The practice went through amalgamation processes during the eighties with a Town and Regional Planning and Architectural Practice, based in the Western Cape and in the nineties with another locally based Urban Planning Practice in Gauteng.
Since 1998 the practice has been operating under its maiden name.
