Midplan & Associates has been in existence as a Town and Regional Planning Consultancy since 1982. The practice fully subscribes to the stipulations contained in the Republic of South Africa Constitution Act. 1996 (Act 108 of 1996), including the basic principles of affirmative action.

The scope of professional work is widespread as can be expected from a consultancy that has been operational for more than three decades. The scope of work therefore includes development control functions, legal hearings, strategic planning, formulation of development policies, feasibility studies, detail township design, urban renewal and project monitoring and co-ordination.

The client base of the practice includes private sector individuals and companies and local, provincial and central government institutions.

The practice is driven by Paul Zietsman (B. A. et Sc. – Town and Regional Planning, B. Iuris, TRP(SA) – Reg. No. A531/1987, MSAPI). The practice operates in association with Planit Planning Solutions, an East Rand (Benoni) based consultancy. Paul Zietsman is a member of the South African Council for Planners, the South African Council for Consulting Planners and the South African Planning Institute.
